What is the newsletter about? Who may find value? Why?
My primary goal is to balance current, evolving information around clinical decisions + mechanisms of action for plants/manual therapy with more subjective, anecdotal, ancient and broader understandings of healing.
The first half of the sentence means providing a synthesis of clinical trials, basic research around how plants/manual therapy work, and the relevant basic sciences. The second part involves in engaging in older understandings of physiology, direct conscious experience, and explorations into broad conscious relationships (ie. learning form plants directly). This is a critical review and synthesis of scholarly publications, and trying to maximize real life understanding instead of reciting statistics and rigidly adhering to concepts of separation. It is in the spirit of maintaining a flexible loving mind while encouraging rigor and precision.
Why would I want to pay monthly for this service?
The amount of new information regarding these therapeutic approaches rapidly expands. Particularly research around in fundamental mechanisms of action. Alot of that expansion doesn't get enough attention. This service helps you get exposed to current and underappreciated research, while also tying it into lived experience. Instead of just giving you convoluted and often misleading abstracts, I always strive to synthesize information into language that improves understanding and connect it to other understandings that give a clearer broader picture.
Who would be interested in this work?
People who are curious about plants and manual therapy. Especially those that work at the interface of rigorous empirical knowledge and the vital art of care that mysteriously unfolds in the moment. This is geared towards people that employ these therapies with other people, but educators and students could also benefit.
